At the invitation of the Founder and Executive Director of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is currently leading the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, from 22 to 25 January 2019.
With the theme: "Globalization 4.0: Shaping a global architecture in the age of the fourth industrial revolution Fourth Industrial Revolution", focus of discussion at the WEF Davos 2019 will include impact assessment, cooperation prospects and dialogue to deal with geopolitical issues; assessment and promoting the reform of current global institutional frameworks to adapt to the new political, economic and social context; shaping new regulations and institutional frameworks to promote global cooperation in different fields ...
Since joining WEF in 1989, the relationship between Vietnam and WEF has developed rapidly in many aspects. WEF has become an important dialogue forum for Vietnamese government leaders with the world's leading corporations, providing Vietnam with investment and development opportunities. Vietnam's top leaders regularly attend WEF Annual Meetings in Davos and East Asia, paving the way for the development of relations between the two sides.
Bilateral contacts between Vietnamese leaders and peers from countries around the world as well as leaders of corporations, global economic groups, provide opportunities for exchanges on Vietnam’s economic development directions, thereby helping to develop development policies and guidelines for the country.
At the 2017 WEF Annual Meeting in Davos, the Vietnamese delegation led by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc continued to convey strong messages about Vietnam's economic prospects, Vietnam's determination to promote the national comprehensive innovation and active international integration. At WEF 2017, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement on building a self-resilient Vietnamese economy.
In addition to attending WEF conferences, Vietnam and WEF expanded cooperation to: Enhance national competitiveness, cooperation in industry and agriculture sectors, etc. Vietnam always participates actively and effectively in WEF initiatives such as the "New Vision for Agriculture", the "Grow Asia Forum", the "Green Growth Action Alliance", the "System Initiative on Shaping the Future of Production " ...
Vietnam also actively hosts regional WEF conferences. In 2018, Vietnam hosted the WEF ASEAN Conference (WEF ASEAN 2018) in Hanoi from 11-13 September 2018. Founder of WEF evaluates WEF ASEAN 2018 as the most successful regional WEF conference over the past 27 years.
It can be said that Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc's visit to WEF Davos 2019 brings strong messages about Vietnam's path, orientation, policy and determination in the national comprehensive innovation and international integration; promoting leading partners and corporations to continue strengthening cooperation with Vietnam, contributing to improving the international environment to facilitate the implementation of socio-economic development goals in 2019.
