Mr Bui Ba Bong, Chairman of the Vietnam Rice Industry Association (VIETRISA) takes responsibility for certifying the Vietnamese National rice brand.
Recently, at the Public-Private Cooperation Workshop to serve the implementation of the Project of 1 million ha specializing in high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation, Mr Bui Ba Bong, Chairman of VIETRISA, made several specific proposals on the association's tasks when participating in the Project in the period 2024 - 2025.
Mr. Bong expressed that if trusted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, VIETRISA would like to accept responsibility as the unit certifying the Vietnamese National rice brand. Currently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is the owner of this brand. However, there is a lack of a unit to carry out brand certify and certification. This has limited the development of the National rice brand in recent times.
In addition, VIETRISA also proposes to participate in developing low-emission rice regulations and standards. Moving forward, it will be the unit certifying and granting the low-carbon Vietnamese rice label - Low Carbon Rice. This will create a very good image of rice production in the domestic as well as the international market.
Also according to VIETRISA Chairman, as a bridge between cooperatives and businesses, the Association will promote the application of high-quality production processes and reduce emissions through 5 pilot models, standardized in 5 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta have been selected by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. In particular, ensuring the connection of rice product consumption in the models.
In addition, the Association will evaluate the level of application of technical processes in some regions implementing the project and propose science and technology initiatives.
At the same time, VIETRISA will advise and introduce connections between production areas and participating businesses. Especially international businesses coming to Vietnam to invest, who do not clearly understand the production conditions and which areas are favourable for technology application. The Association will introduce potential areas according to the wishes of businesses.
