During the occasion of Grow Asia Forum in Phnom Penh (Cambodia) on May 10th – 11th, 2017, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong had a working session with Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Veng Sakhon.
The two ministers assessed the bilateral cooperative relations, advantages and potentials for comprehensive agricultural cooperation.
The two ministries re-evaluated the bilateral trade and investment cooperation in agriculture, and noted the recent positive progress. The two sides agreed that both Vietnam and Cambodia have advantages to develop agriculture, and therefore have great potentials to promote the trade and investment cooperation in agriculture.
The two sides also discussed specifically on how to enhance Vietnamese investment in Cambodian agriculture; connect Cambodian agricultural products with processing plants, enhancing added values in Vietnam; cooperate to expand exporting markets for agricultural, forestry and fishery products for both countries sustainably.
The two ministers reach consensus on further boosting the cooperation between the two countries’ agricultural research and management units. At the same time, the two ministers stressed the need for strengthening the relations between the two ministries to develop a comprehensive cooperation program, on the basis of which some sectors would be chosen for the implementation of trade and investment promotion solutions, enhancement of business and locality connection between the two countries in the shortest time.
