On the sidelines of the Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's business trip to the United States to attend the ASEAN-US Special Summit and work with the United Nations, in the afternoon of May 13, 2022 in Washington. D.C., the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), in collaboration with partners, organized the Viet Nam and US Agri-Bussiness Diaglogue.
The Dialogue was opened by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan alongside with Senior Vice President of the US - ASEAN Business Council (USABC) Mr. Marc Mealy. Attending the Dialogue were representatives of agencies, enterprises, associations, businesses in the agricultural sectors of the two countries and a number of banks and investment funds. Major industry associations of the United States such as the the U.S. Soybean Council, the U.S. Grain Council, the National Pork Producers Council and a number of multi-national agricultural corporations also participated in the Dialogue.
At the Dialogue, MARD representative presented the strategic priorities of agricultural development in Viet Nam in the coming period, opportunities and challenges for investment and bilateral trade of agri-products. The two sides inspire to become trusted and sustainable partners, businesses and industry associations have openly exchanged especially about the opportunities, difficulties and obstacles in production, business and investment in Viet Nam.
Minister Le Minh Hoan pledged to get along with the U.S. businesses and investors to handle difficulties and barriers, as well as to create a favorable environment for production, business and investment for the international business community in general and the ones of United States in particular.
Immediately after the reply of the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with US partners and businesses, four MOU were signed between the parties, including: (1) among Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture in Viet Nam (PSAV) and National Agriculture Extension, PepsiCo, Inc. and CARE; (2) MOU between Moc Thinh Phat Production JSC. and Grasslands Farms, Inc on promotion of agri-trade; (3) MOU between ERG and Bắc Giang province to promote trade of local agri-products; and (4) MOU between Nevist International Import & Export JSC Vietnam and AGP US
At the end of the Dialogue, businesses of the two countries met and exchanged possibilities for cooperation and building future partners to promote trade, seek investment opportunities and transfer technology, explore the possibility of cooperation with the U.S. and multi-national corporations to bring Vietnamese agricultural products to participate in the global value chains.
