On the morning of June 4, 2019, at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the PPP Task Force on Tea (Tea TF) under the Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture in Viet Nam (PSAV) organized a meeting to discuss and reach a strategic partnership agreement on the Strategy and Action Plan for Tea TF in the 2019-2020 period. The meeting was attended by leaders of the Department of Crop Production, the Viet Nam Tea Association (VITAS), Unilever Viet Nam Ltd. - Co-chairs of the Tea TF and its members including public representatives such as leaders of the Plant Protection Department, the National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department, the Agro Processing and Market Development Authority, the National Agriculture Extension Center and private representatives such as URC, VinaTea, SAP, etc…
The meeting offered a policy dialogue forum for public and private partners of the Tea TF to openly share, discuss, and agree on strategic challenges, plans and key tasks of the Tea TF in 2019 -2020, with a vision by 2015 to enhance support and cooperation efficiency between the public and private sectors in promoting the development of Viet Nam's sustainable and competitive tea industry.
At the meeting, the parties came to an agreement on the 03 (three) key action components of the Tea TF in the coming time including (i) Strengthening pesticide use management; (ii) Improving the quality of Vietnamese tea; and (iii) Enhancing the operational efficiency of the Tea TF.
Through discussion, partners agreed on the need to set up a team of experts to coordinate and implement Action Plan of the Tea TF. At the same time, the members expressed their commitment to effectively implement the Tea TF's Action Plan in 2019-2020 and continue to strengthen further cooperation effectiveness between the public and private sectors.
