MARD collaborated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to eliminate bottlenecks impeding Vietnam-China agricultural product trade cooperation
On August 25, Deputy Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Le Quoc Doanh met with his counterpart from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nguyen Minh Vu, to discuss agricultural cooperation between Vietnam and China. Additionally, the conference highlighted obstacles, bottlenecks, and priorities in this area. The material will be collected in preparation for the forthcoming meeting of the Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation between Vietnam and China.
According to Deputy Minister Le Quoc Doanh, Vietnam sees tremendous opportunity in China's massive demand market by capitalizing on tropical agricultural goods.
“At the moment, China is pursuing a number of programs aimed at developing local agricultural goods to meet domestic consumption needs. However, with the continuous development of agricultural product quality, Vietnam retains a competitive edge in exporting to this market,” Doanh said.
The MARD official explained that the primary impediment to agricultural exports to China at the moment is the changing border trade policy. As a consequence, the deputy minister encourages the two ministries to cooperate and share information in order to resolve the problems at the upcoming working session with the Chinese side.
On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu said that in light of the present economic scenario, agriculture continues to be a critical pillar of the economy, supporting not only local consumption but also export goals.
China is a large potential market with a lot of untapped space, but despite many attempts to remove obstacles, there are still certain blockages. As a result, the ministry will collaborate with MARD to address and encourage the development of the sector.
Nguyen Minh Vu urges the two Ministries to enhance information sharing in the near future by issuing broad reports and making specific suggestions.
Additionally, the Deputy Minister of MoFA said that he would work to improve the link between the two ministries' divisions in the coming months in order to boost the efficiency with which trade issues are resolved.
Additionally, since agricultural trade necessitates the involvement of other ministries and divisions, MoFA will research and create a master plan for economic cooperation with China.
More precisely, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu said that the ministry would cooperate with China to eliminate barriers to altering border trade regulations, including the establishment of an open system for Vietnamese agricultural goods.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will work with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to improve cooperation in order to rapidly develop the market for Vietnam's strong agricultural goods in China. Even so, we will have a strategy for connecting at a deeper level with more particular issues,” Nguyen Minh Vu said.
