On 7/8/2018, PSAV Secretariat representative participated at the General Meeting and Practitioners’ Workshop and Learning Event co-organized by the Partnership for Indonesia’s Sustainable Agriculture (PISAgro) and Grow Asia in Jakarta, Indonesia with the theme “Building Food Security through Ways of Partnership and Best Practices”. The event was participated by approximately 100 representatives from Grow Asia, PSAV, PPSA (the Philippines Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture), and PISAgro members and partners.
The event included 2 sessions, the General Meeting with CEO talks on “Partnership in perspective business competition policy” for leaders of PISAgro members and the Practitioners’ Learning Event on “Finding the solution of tackling the bottlenecks for scaling-up” for wider audience including current and potential members and partners of the partnership.
Law on the Prohibition of Monopoly and Unfair Business Competition (Law No. 5/1999) has been taking place since the establishment of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission in Indonesia in 2000 and has become an important reference for the business world in Indonesia. The prohibition of cartel and abuses of dominant position and merger control has significantly influenced the process of market behaviour change in Indonesia. The CEO talks gave PISAgro members an opportunity to have a better understanding of the Business Competition Policies for business partnerships, identify potential problems, review and evaluate implications related to Indonesian legislation and correct the Partnership's cooperation orientation in the future.
With a view to support PISAgro to draft roadmap for strengthening partnership, the second session was opened with Grow Asia’s update on Country Partnerships supported by the organization and sharing of success factors as well as practical tips and techniques for Working Group leaders and members. The session was followed with PISAgro members and partners’ discussion on roadmap to strengthen partnerships within PISAgro, focusing on 3 key topics including (1) enabling access to finance, (2) using technology to decrease delivery costs, and (3) designing for scale and impact.
The event provided a lot of insight into Business Competition Policies for PISAgro members, as well as support the partnership to find the solution to tackling the bottlenecks of scaling-up.
