The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has just sent a letter to the Department of Animal Health, agreeing the proposal of the Department on the import of live pigs from Thailand to Vietnam for rearing and slaughtering for food from June 12, 2020.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development assigns the Department of Animal Health to promulgate specific technical quarantine guidelines for importing live pigs into Vietnam for rearing and slaughtering for food according to current regulations, and ensuring disease safety.
The Director General of Department of Animal Health is responsible for strengthening forces, working closely with inter-branch forces at the border gates and local authorities, strictly controlling the import of live pigs into Vietnam, being accountable before the law and the Minister for ensuring the disease safety in importing of live pigs into Vietnam.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development stated that, after achieving the goals directed by the Prime Minister in Notice No. 178/TB-KL and after the COVID-19 has been put under control, the quarantine activities related to the import of live pigs from other countries into Vietnam will be implemented in accordance with current regulations and procedures.
One month before ending this import measure, the Department of Animal Health is responsible for notifying relevant units to ensure active implementation.
