75 years of Viet Nam agriculture: Join hand to develop modern agriculture, wealthy farmers and civilized rural sector

On November 14, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) solemnly celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Traditional Day (November 14, 1945 - November 14, 2020) and the 5^th Anniversary of Patriotic Emulation Congress. The celebration was attended by Vice President, First Vice Chairman of Central Emulation and Reward Council Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, together with leaders and former leaders of Ministries, sectors, departments and more than 400 representatives from the typical advanced and excellent collectives and individuals in the Agriculture and Rural Development sector in the period 2016 - 2020.

Speaking at the celebration, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong emphasized that, during the past 75 years, the agriculture and rural sector has always strived to overcome many difficulties and challenges, and implemented the guidelines of the Party and Government. The sector has matured steps in many ways, constantly gaining great and comprehensive achievements.

In particular, in the 2016-2020 period, the agriculture and rural development sector has implemented effectively and successfully the task of restructuring the sector, building a new rural area. The growth rate of the agricultural sector continuously reached 2.8 - 3%. Many businesses deeply participate in the regional and global value chains, contributing to enhancing the export capacity and competitiveness of the economy.

Thanks to the rapid growth rate, the scale of agricultural production of our country is growing, basically meeting the consumption needs of 100 million people in the country and ensuring national food security. Some major agricultural products such as seafood, vegetables, flowers, fruits, high-value industrial crops, wooden products, ... have affirmed their position and competitiveness in the world market.

Currently, Vietnamese agricultural products have been exported to nearly 200 markets around the world, including those with high technical standards, such as the US, EU, Japan, Korea, ... bringing the export value of Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products the  2^nd largest in Southeast Asia and 15^th in the world.

Speaking at the celebration, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh congratulated the great achievements and praised the patriotic emulation movement of the agriculture and rural development sector gained in the past period. In particular, the Vice President congratulated the advanced and typical collectives and individuals who were commended and rewarded at the Patriotic Emulation Congress of Agriculture and Rural Development in the period 2016-2020.

At the celebration, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh awarded First, Second, and Third Class Labor Medals to 3 individuals with outstanding achievements in their work, contributing to the cause of building the socialism mechanism and defending the Fatherland. In addition, 10 collectives honored to receive the Government Emulation Flag for having successfully and comprehensively completed their tasks, leading in the emulation movement of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; 2 individuals received the title of National Emulation Individual for excellent achievements, typically in the patriotic emulation movement, contributing to the cause of socialism construction and national defense.
