At the press conference, the Director General of the General Statistics Office introduced the main contents of these two important White Books.
The "2020 White Book on Cooperatives of Viet Nam" (1st issue) includes basic information to assess the development level of cooperatives across the country and localities in the 2016-2018 period.
Specifically, the "2020 White Book on Cooperatives of Viet Nam" includes 5 parts: Part I - Background of cooperative development in 2018. Part II - Overview of Viet Nam’s cooperative development in 2018 and the 2016-2018 period. Part III - Solutions for cooperative development. Part IV - Set of cooperatives development indicators for 2018 and the 2016-2018 period of the whole country (Appendix). Part V - Set of cooperatives development indicators in 2018 and the 2016-2018 period of localities (Appendix).
The 2020 White Book on Cooperatives of Viet Nam affirmed cooperative economy as an important component/a solid foundation of the national economy. Consistently, developing cooperative economy has been a policy of the Party and the State. Acknowledging their roles and importance, the Party and the Government have issued many policies to create a driving force for the development of cooperatives, which brought about positive results for the socio-economic development. However, stronger innovation is needed for the cooperative economy to adapt and develop in the current context of Viet Nam’s deeper international integration.
The “2020 White Book on Enterprises of Viet Nam” includes basic information to assess the level of business development across the country and localities in the 2016-2019 period.
Specifically the book includes 6 parts: (1) Background of business development in 2019; (2) Overview of Viet Nam business development in 2019 and the 2016-2019 period; (3) Some key features of enterprises in operation in 2018 and the 2016-2018 period; (4) Solutions for enterprise development; (5) Set of business development indicators in 2019 and the 2016-2019 period of the whole country; (6) Set of business development indicators in 2019 and the 2016-2019 period of localities.
According to the 2020 White Book on Enterprises of Viet Nam, in the context the country facing many difficulties and challenges, especially negative impacts of the global and regional situation, as well as natural disasters, the Government, Ministries, branches and localities have proactively set out and implemented solutions to remove difficulties to promote economic growth and improve the quality of growth. 2019 was the second consecutive year Viet Nam achieved and exceeded all 12 major targets set by the National Assembly. Many reputable international organizations, countries and partners highly appreciated and affirmed Viet Nam as a highlight in the region and globally. Viet Nam ranked 8th among the best economies in the world to invest in 2019, up 15 places compared to 2018. The positive and dynamic development of the business sector played an important role to the country's economic growth results in 2019 (contributing over 60% to GDP).
