To base on the result of quick survey on Agrochemical’s issues as well as support the PPP Agrochemical Task Force within the framework of the Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture in Vietnam (PSAV), PSAV Secretariat Office in collaboration with Grow Asia, Agribusiness Japan Desk, IDH the Sustainable Trade Initiative, Louis Dreyfus Company, Dow Agro Science and Bayer in Vietnam organized “Dialogue on Issues and Solutions for Effective Management of Agro-Chemicals” in 20 Jun in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province. The initiative was held with the goal bring all stakeholders to (i) update the current situation on management and use of chemicals in agriculture, (ii) share information related to agro-chemicals used for key commodities, and (iii) discuss initiatives and solutions to improve management system, trading and sustainable use of chemicals in agricultural commodities.
There were more than 90 delegates who are representatives of MARD, DARD in Centre Highland provinces, coffee – pepper – tea – vegetable companies, local agrochemical traders, agri-cooperatives, farmer association and farmers, attended the Dialogue.
Many problems relating to agrochemical issues were raised to dialogues among stakeholder in this event; in addition, many research and practice in field, initiatives and solutions for effective management of Agrochemical were shared and discussed. All participants divided to discuss in groups on topics of the roles and responsibilities of the public and private sectors as well as farmers in management and use of responsible chemicals for sustainable agriculture in Vietnam. To base on the result of group discussion, the PPP Agrochemical Task Force will take responsibilities to design activities which align with their action plan and share with members to follow up.
The event was highly appreciated by all delegates as Dr. Bui Sy Doanh, Vice General Director of Department of Plan Protection shared “the dialogue is well organized, all presentations and shared information are useful for us and audiences. This is a good opportunity for dialogue, learning – sharing and more understanding between government and stakeholders”; while Ms. Ho Thi Ngoc Thuy, Green Farm Cooperative said, “I really appreciated to be invited to attend the dialogue event because this is the first time the farmers like me can share our problems in agrochemical issues with government and others”
