The first annual Viet Nam Reform and Development Forum (VRDF) with the theme "New vision, new drivers of economic growth in the new era" officially took place in Ha Noi on 5 December 2018. The Forum was organized by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and the World Bank (WB), with the participation of leaders of the Government, ministries, central branches, international organizations and business associations, leading experts, scholars in the country and around the world.
According to MPI, the Forum was a succession and development step of the Donor Consultation Group (CG) Meeting and Vietnam Development Forum (VDF). This first VRDF was very important as it was organized at the time when Viet Nam was entering the final years of the 10-year socio-economic development strategy (2011-2020), the 5-year socio-economic development plan (2016-2020) as well as entering the preparation stage for the construction of the 10-year Strategy and the 5-year Plan of the new period. Based on the theme, the Forum was designed with 2 main discussion sessions, including: "Vision of Viet Nam in a fast-changing world" and "New growth motivation: Innovation on the foundation of the industry 4.0 and development of the private sector ".
“To develop the private sector, infrastructure, human capital and green growth, it is required competent and effective state institutions”, which is one of the proposals on Viet Nam's development solutions in the coming time from Mr. Ousmane Dione, the National Director of WB.
