Philippines ranked the biggest importer of rice in the first 4 months of 2019 with 35.9% market share. Rice export to that market for the first 4 months of 2019 was 814.500 tons and US$ 320.5 million, increasing 4.4 times in volume and 3.9 times in value over the same period in 2018.

For the first four months of 2019, markets with high export value of rice were Angola (5.2 times higher); Hong Kong (+ 91.9%); Ivory Coast (+ 73.3%) and Russia (+ 29.3%). The average export price of rice in the first 4 months of 2019 was US$ 428 / ton, down 14.9% compared to the same period in 2018.

In the world market, rice prices have been falling for the past month. In particular, Indian rice prices hit a 7-month low due to weak demand, Thai rice remained unchanged at $ 400 / ton due to low demand and the market is predicted to have no major trading in the short term.

In Vinh Long, IR50404 wet paddy was at 4,600 VND / kg; IR50404 dry paddy kept at 5,300 VND / kg; IR50404 paddy at 12,000 VND / kg; jasmine paddy at VND 14,000 / kg.

In Bac Lieu, harvesting RVT paddy was priced at 6,000 - 6,500 VND / kg.
