PPP in agriculture sector applied

On 4^th September 2015, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development (MARD) issued the Document No. 7256/TB-BNN-VP on announcing the direction of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat on the application of PPP projects in the agriculture sector.

The Minister decided to pilot 6 projects which are able to be directly supported by the State budget when private sector invests in.

For 6 piloted projects, the Minister assigned the related agencies to select projects to establish proposal for investment and find partners to negotiate in some of the following fields:

1. Project on clean water and rural environment protection: researching the current existing model in Thai Binh to propose the investment project in other provinces;

2. Project on coffee irrigation in the Central Highland.

3. Project on protecting afforestation along seashores of Cuu Long Delta: researching the afforestation combined with shrimp raising in Soc Trang.

4. Project investing on establishment of fish port.

5. Project to supply water for industrial parks, researching clean water supply model in Vung Ang – Ha Tinh economic zone to build up for the project the Dong Dien water reservoir;

6. Set up PPP model with Unilever towards tea in the Northern mountainous provinces.
