Localities need to inspirit the ‘Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods’ campaign especially during the 2022 Lunar New Year

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) proposed localities to inspirit the ‘Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods’ campaign to promote agro-products consumption especially during the 2022 Lunar New Year

On January 7th, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) sent Document No. 110/BNN-VP to the People's Committees of provinces and cities under Central to implement several solutions regarding the promotion of agro-products consumption.

Agro-products congestion still occurs in recent times at the northern border gates while the harvest is coming near. Although the Government, the Prime Minister along ministries, branches and localities have taken drastic measures to alleviate the situation, the mentioned problem has not been completely resolved.

Particularly in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic showing complicated developments and China implementing the "Zero Covid" policy, the hardship in agro-products exports is expected to persist.

In order to actively direct production and agro-products consumption,

the MARD proposed that the Chairman of the People's Committees of provinces and cities focus on instructing agencies, departments and sectors to do a review on the capacity and need of agro-products production, processing and trading enterprises. Leaders at all levels need to effectively execute domestic consumption by connecting production establishments, processing facilities, cooperatives, farmers with purchasing enterprises, distribution systems.

Another option for connection is through the Agricultural Product Connection Forums such as the Agricultural Product Connection Forum 970 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The mass organizations in the political system should inspirit local businesses to strongly follow the “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods” campaign which aims towards promoting agro-products consumption especially during the 2022 Lunar New Year.

Ministries and agencies maintain monitoring, forecasting and planning for production and consumption before and after the 2022 Lunar New Year. Border provinces will coordinate with local authorities to proactively regulate the agro-products exportation period. Added with balancing supply and demand, the local and inter-regional domestic agro-product needs will be firmly secured.

The MARD will work with other ministries and agencies during the negotiation process to open the agro-products export market, making full use of signed FTAs.
